1. Adobe Finds AI-Referred Shoppers Convert Better. Should Businesses Pay Attention?
Research published: October 29, 2026 | AI Search & Ecommerce
Adobe has published new research showing that visitors arriving at US retail websites from AI platforms are becoming more valuable.
According to Adobe, AI-referred traffic converted 90% better than non-AI traffic in September 2026 and generated 83% higher revenue per visit.
AI-referred visits also increased 71% year over year.
The research draws on Adobe's analysis of more than one trillion visits to US retail websites, covering 100 million products across 18 categories, along with a consumer survey of more than 5,000 people.
These findings are encouraging, but they don't mean AI visitors convert 90% better for every business. The figures describe Adobe's US retail dataset, not medical clinics, local service businesses or all countries.

2. Reddit Says Google Is Sending Fewer Visitors. Is AI Search Taking Website Traffic?
Reported: October 29, 2026 | SEO & Google Search
Reddit reported quarterly revenue of $895 million, up 53% year over year.
But its CEO, Steve Huffman, raised a concern about Google Search.
According to his earnings-call comments, Google referrals to Reddit fell by more than one million per week on average during October.
He believes changes in Google's AI-powered search are contributing to the decline. Other factors, including changes affecting translated content, may also be involved.
Reddit is now planning an experiment that would require people to sign in before reading most content in selected markets outside the United States during the fourth quarter.
That sign-in requirement is not already active worldwide.

3. Google Gemini Can Now Edit PDFs, Documents and Presentations Directly
Announced: October 29, 2026 | AI Productivity
Google has introduced new file-creation and editing capabilities inside the Gemini app.
Users can generate, preview and edit PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Markdown files, text files and code directly in a Gemini conversation.
You can select part of a document, ask Gemini to change it, or make manual edits.
The feature is available to users in languages where Gemini is supported.
There is an important device limitation:
PDF previewing and editing work on both web and mobile. Editing other supported file types currently works on the web only.
For marketing teams, this could simplify work on proposals, campaign reports, content calendars and presentations.

4. Google Adds Reporting for Shopping Through AI Mode and Gemini
Documented: October 2026 | Google Merchant API
Google has updated its Merchant API with new reporting capabilities for AI-assisted shopping.
The additions are part of its Universal Commerce Protocol, or UCP, which supports shopping interactions across connected services.
The new reporting views can provide information about orders, cancellations, cart transfers, checkout activity and product-level buying interactions across supported Google experiences, including AI Mode and Gemini.
Google also expanded reporting for YouTube Shopping affiliate campaigns and added support for product video links.
The important limitation is that the new UCP reporting capabilities are documented under Merchant API v1alpha.
They are not generally available to every merchant, and eligibility depends on the relevant integrations.

5. A Study Finds Google AI Mode Often Links Product Searches to Google Shopping
Study reported: October 29, 2026 | AI Search & Ecommerce SEO
New research covered by Search Engine Land looked at 55,198 AI-generated answers based on approximately 18,400 buyer questions across 35 US markets.
The study reported that 57% of links in Google AI Mode product answers pointed to Google Shopping product pages.
In 46.5% of sampled product answers, the links pointed exclusively to Google-owned pages.
But the pattern was different for local services. The study reported that only 5.1% of links for local service questions went to Google properties.
This is an important distinction between selling products and promoting services.
The study measured links displayed in AI-generated answers. It did not measure where 57% of users clicked, how many purchases occurred or how much revenue was generated.
Its findings have not been independently replicated across other markets.

6. Mistral Releases Large 4: Can Businesses Run Powerful AI on Their Own Systems?
Public release: October 29, 2026 | AI & Cybersecurity
French AI company Mistral has released the downloadable model weights for Mistral Large 4.
The model was first introduced in preview earlier in October, but the new release means organizations can download and deploy it on infrastructure they control, subject to the model's license and technical requirements.
Mistral is positioning Large 4 for advanced coding, AI agents and cybersecurity work.
This could interest businesses that want more control over where AI applications run and how data is processed.
However, an open-weight model is not automatically private or secure. Organizations still need appropriate infrastructure, permission controls, testing and compliance processes.

7. Amazon AWS Reports 39% Growth. What Does This Say About the AI Market?
Results announced: October 29, 2026 | Cloud & Technology
Amazon reported third-quarter revenue of $201.9 billion, up 12% compared with the same quarter in 2025.
Its cloud division, Amazon Web Services, generated approximately $46 billion, growing 39% year over year.
Amazon described this as AWS's fastest growth in nearly five years.
The company also reported operating income of $28.1 billion.
These results show strong demand for cloud infrastructure, including the computing systems used to run AI services.
However, Amazon's financial results also show substantial capital investment and pressure on free cash flow.
Strong infrastructure growth does not automatically mean every AI investment is profitable.

My Overall Take: AI Traffic and Business Results Are Not the Same Thing
The biggest lesson from today's updates is that the value of online visibility is becoming harder to judge using traffic alone.
Adobe reports strong conversion performance from AI-referred retail visitors. Reddit is experiencing fewer Google search referrals. Google is also building new ways to measure shopping activity inside AI-powered experiences.
These aren't necessarily contradictory developments.
A company can receive fewer visitors but attract more qualified customers. Another business may gain visibility without receiving the same number of website clicks.
For marketers, the challenge is to measure what actually happens after discovery.
Keep an eye on search visibility, but don't stop there. Monitor enquiries, appointments, purchases, revenue and returning customers.
The businesses that understand the full customer journey will be in a better position than those judging success by traffic numbers alone.
